In the San Quintín Valley of Baja California, farmworkers struggle to survive and support their families as they pick the fruits and vegetables that people in the US and other countries consume. To fight the exploitative conditions they live under, the workers have formed an independent union, SINDJA, and called on consumers to boycott Driscoll’s, the global berry supplier that dominates much of the valley, until the growers that supply Driscoll’s negotiate a contract with the union. In this site, you’ll learn about developments in the farmworker movement in Mexico and how you can support the workers by participating in the boycott and forming or joining local support committees.
